Cuesta College to Host First Green Jobs Action Summit

The first Green Jobs Action Summit for the Central Coast will be held at Cuesta College on Friday, September 25, 2009. The goal of the summit is to provide a forum for eco-friendly, business-driven action by exploring ways to power green growth throughout the county. Keynote speakers will include District 3 Supervisor Adam Hill and Debra Chaplan, director of special programs for the State Building and Construction Trades Council of California. Information will be provided regarding current green laws, regulations, funding opportunities and case studies. The event will also focus on new, green-driven economic opportunities to benefit both San Luis Obispo County and California. The summit is presented by the SLO Green Jobs Corps in partnership with Cuesta College, California Conservation Corps, Community Action Partnership, the Workforce Investment Board and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. The Green Jobs Action Summit will be held from 7 a.m. to noon in room 5401 on the Cuesta College San Luis Obispo Campus. The event is free and open to the public.
