Description: This practice provides subsidized evening childcare to support the

educational goals and needs of special population students, particularly single parents, and

economically disadvantaged students. Single parents and economically disadvantaged

students seeking to upgrade their skills and knowledge can obtain free childcare for

children age 6-12 during the evening hours through the College’s Evening School-Age

Program. The program, which is open to all student parents, sets the fee according to

parent needs. The availability of the service is made known through community

partnerships and events, publications, the college web site, and networking. It is funded

through VTEA and other grants by various campus departments, the Associated Student

Body, and CalWORKs.
